By far this is the toughest day of your trip. The initial stretch of 4.5 mi between Diraphuk to Dolma La is steep and could be extremely tiring as we gain almost 3,000 ft from 15750 ft to 18,700 ft. It probably is good idea to be deliberately slow and using hiking pole/s. It will take approximately about 2 hrs to reach Shiva-stahl which is the burial ground. Buddhist pray ” Dirjejigies” (Lord of Death – Yama).
After half an hour of steep climb, you reach at the summit of Dolma La (18,700 ft).
On the right and down below, is the Holy lake of Gaurikund (Yokmo Tso). It is an Emerald Green Lake and considered to be the Holy Lake and one of the highest lake in the world, that remains frozen most of the times throughout the year. The water of this lake is considered to be so holy, so pure that it can cure all the diseases.
Coming down from Dolma La is as tough as going up. Further, your trek becomes windy due gorge of Zuthulphuk.
